Gameweeks 18, 19, and 20 were actually pretty predictable and followed the trend these 3 gameweeks do every season. Boxing Day always sees LOADS of goals (too much turkey?), the Gameweek after Boxing Day is always slow, tired, and lacking in the goals department, and Gameweek 20 sees deep, talented squads taking down minnows whose starters are worn down from the busy schedule. We do approach an interesting time now, though, as the ever-elusive January Wildcard is now available. Gameweek 21 will undoubtedly see lots of team shifts and popularity rises for the likes of Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria, and other stars whose price-tags prove prohibitive at times. Let’s take a look at how this January Wildcard season should be handled.
2015 is off to a hot start. Alan Pardew has swapped Newcastle for Crystal Palace. There’s speculation of Aguero returning early from injury and even Lionel Messi coming to the Premier League (although that still could be baseless speculation). All of the changes occuring in the Premier League are exciting for football fans but more importantly, for fantasy managers. With many wildcards active going into Gameweek 21 there is honestly not much certainty in what will happen in important matches. Below I take a stab at identifying 4 players that look the most promising for a wildcard squad.
